Guided Meditation & Toning Benefits

How often do you take the time to sit down and relax? And I mean really relax….no thinking about what you need to do in ten minutes! Relaxation is healing to your body and your mind.

A basic and effective form of relaxing is meditation. While it has become common knowledge that meditation may affect genuine physical responses such as lowering blood pressure and reducing pain, meditation also has additional psychological benefits such as reduction of stress and anxiety and an increased feeling of well-being.

Although we all know about the benefits of meditation, many of us simply don’t feel we are able to take time to sit quietly or don’t believe we have the ability to focus and concentrate. The easiest and quickest way to obtain the benefits of meditation is to take a few minutes, sit or lie down comfortably, and listen to a guided meditation on tape or CD. As you follow simple directions you will feel your body and mind begin to ease.

Guided meditations can enhance your personal healing journey. When I lead meditations, I will often encourage visualizing the body as a channel connected to the energetic forces of the Universe and the healing vibration of the Earth. While deeply relaxed, a person is also deeply connected to their essence and able to enlist the vibrational forces for healing.

The effect of vibrational medicine is further enhanced through bringing toning into the meditations to help support the energy centers of the body. Toning uses the vibration of the human voice to positively affect the energetic flow of the body. Toning also focuses the mind, helping you to slip into the space of wholeness and higher awareness – your true Self.

Recreating harmony in the body, mind and spirit through the effects of sound vibrations is a centuries old tradition by various peoples. The resonance of Tibetan singing bowls, the words of mantra spoken in the Hindu traditions and the songs and drums of shaman healers are still effective healing methods to this day.

The followers of Pythagoras used music to cure dysfunction of the body and disturbances within the psyche. Pythagoras was a philosophical mathematician who taught, among other things, that there was an inter-relationship between the various parts of universal creation and sound.

Science is now re-discovering the benefits of both vibrational healing and meditation. The combination of toning and guided visualizations can help to shift brain waves into alpha and theta states, putting the body and mind into a state of relaxation which is highly conducive to healing.
